F.A.Q. time :)

Sat Dec 25, 2010, 3:41 AM
so, a friend has requested I put up one of these.
The intention is for you guys to post up questions and I'll try and answer them as best I can.
Wether its about me, the conditional freedom gang(the original ppl), the comics, etc I'll try and answer as best I can.
Please don't ask about commissions/requests/art trades for that has its own journal right here:
lyricabelachium.deviantart.com…
lyricabelachium.deviantart.com…

Well then, F.A.Q. start! : D

:bulletblue: 1. What was your first OC that you can remember? (whether it be TF, another fandom or for something completely original, just the first one you can remember ever creating)

That would be Lurker here, he was my very first tf oc. fav.me/d1u66a6
fav.me/d1u66hp
as for other continuities...gosh I really don't know who came first... :s I just know the tf one cuz I'm a one year old fan or something...

:bulletblue: 2. Are you ever suprised by your own characters?

Yes, quite frequently actually...they tend to do that.

:bulletblue: 3. Have you finished WfC yet?

Yes

:bulletblue:4. Is there a favourite colour you like to colour your OCs?

Red I suppose, its the most frequent colour I use.

:bulletblue:5. Do you have hidden themes within the name of your OCs?

Some of them yes, some of them no. Ashbringer and cliffstrider both have hidden meanins because their original names were Aqua and Flamer for example. but there are many others.

:bulletblue:6. Autobot or Decepticon?

My my my... I'm not usually one to pick a side, but I guess I'd go for autobot. I'm a goodie two shoes after all.

:bulletblue: 7: When was the first time you were introduced to Transformers?
Hmmm... I guess it was when I was little and my cousin got a toy for christmas, I wasn't allowed to play with boy toys though so I  had to be re-introduced in 2007 when th movie came out.

:bulletblue: 8: Who was your favorite character? (from any series)
Gee...at first it was bumblebee because of the movie, now its defenetly Blurr and Drift

:bulletblue: 9. What series was your favorite?
hmmm...I'd have to say tfa got my attention most  becuase of its complicated plot and dynamic style.

:bulletblue: 10. How were you introduced to Transformers?
Like I said before, my cousin got a transformers toy when I was little. I was never allowed to play with it cuz it was a boy toy though so I hated sci-fi since then. then in 2007 the special effects of the movie got me curious and I went to see it with my mom(who slept through the whole movie).
I didn't get addicted right away though until tfa came to my country and piked my curiosity.

:bulletblue: 11. What Program do you use for your general art?

Photoshop 0.7 or cs2 (depending if I'm working on the laptop or pc)

:bulletblue: 12. What software do you use for your animations?

Digital animations are done in flash cs3.
The traidtional animations are done by hand, scanned, traced on photoshop and put together in either Ctp or MonkeyJam. sometimes to add sounds or effects I'll use either adobe premier or after effects.

:bulletblue: 13. What is your favourite character on Wfc?

Break down was a win for me

:bulletblue: 14. For how long have you been drawing?

Drawing for real? Since 2006 october I guess..though most of it is so bad back then i dont even dare to share it >.<'

:bulletblue: 15. How do you manage to make a new complete peice of art allmost every day?!

Well, I like to push myself to the limit all the time, and I'm a person that only evolves if I work in exceedingly large numbers of tries x.x. Plus I usually have drawings or sketches that still need to be finished and usually pick one I feel like finishing.

:bulletblue: 16. what traditional materials do you use on your art?

Ermm... usually I just sketch, so a 0.5 or a 0.7 mechanical pencil do the job, I sometimes use colored leads for the rough part and then the lines I do with a regular gray one. Sometimes I use other materials like dry pastels and ecoline but I don't usually post those here. as for pens? rotring, all sizes I can get my hands on. though I recently havent done much with them out of favour for photoshop's cleaner lines.

:bulletblue: 17. what are your goals with your art?

tricky one...uhh... I suppose its what I allways wanted, to tell stories, its what I love to do and I'm absolutly fascinated when people wish to know more of what people tell them. In the end I'm a story teller at heart.

:bulletblue: 18. what made you create the "Conditional Freedom" series?

It was my love for my old classmates, I wanted to carry on life along their side but in the real world that was not possible, so I tried making it happen through other ways. the whole autobot team on the stargazer ship are my classmates with the exception of AshBringer (who is taking my place).

:bulletblue: 19. Does the Conditional freedom know about us cheering them on the story?

Oh I managed to show and tell some of them, my favourite reaction was skyblade's who said "I feel desired" XD god I love that guy. They wish to thank you all for it as well :)

:bulletblue: 20. What are/were you studying? Was it any good?

Well...lesseee... my country's study system is a little diferent from the american style, so my 10th to 12th year were very...controverse?
the first time I did the 10th and 11th I was in a public school 'studying' arts, mind you I did anything but arts despite wanting to do it so bad. It was a terrible school, and for personal reasons that nearly led me to suicide I quit the school on the last day and travelled to my birth city in hopes of finding a better place.
I found a private school that was....well...unique, when I entered the place looked like a circus (in the good way). people doing art everywhere, from juggling to singing, to drawing, to painting, etc... and many of them were asleep all over the stairs of that huge old building. :giggle: anyway, I found my Conditional freedom here where I studied 2D and 3D animation for 3 years, so now that its finished I am a professional animtor, though I must say I didnt learn enough to be one I think.
After this it was time to enter university, and following my dream I entered a film one....to find out it was a complete disappointment and quit again. It was the best school in the country and its bad. Since there are no animation universities either I subscribed this year in a comic book and illustration university and hope to do it until I can get out of the country and study film for real this time.

:bulletblue: 21. Will you see my gallery/read my fics?

Uh...no.
As much as I WANT to see and be nice to people, I get many requests for this per day and if I were to attend to every last one of them I would never have time for anything else.
So please, don't ask me this, I see what I like and I read what I like, and even those are limited because I keep myself too busy ;.;

:bulletblue: 22. Why do you only draw robots?

Hnn... who said I only draw robots? It is merely what I draw the most, and honestly I don't bother posting most of my human stuff.
I find that drawing humans is something anyone can do and learn easily. and personally I don't like to belong in the "anyone" pile.

:bulletblue: 23. What inspired you to draw/animate?

gee...thats a hard one...ermm... I guess the fact that I grew up watching cartoons as if they were the highlight in my life instead of playing mommy or with dollies has led my life to love it so much to the point I want to continue it, I wanted to be able to do the same things.

:bulletblue: 24.When you create your OC's do you use the same design but change little bits about the design so know on can tell (sorta like the g1 seekers) or do start from scratch with each one?

Depends on what I want. I avoid as much as possible to use the exact same 'base' as that would simply be a recolour.
what I do is, I study the types, mix them up in my favour and IF I want them to have some sort of relation to a known cannon then I usually give them a few details that indicate there is some sort of connection between them.

:bulletblue: 25.What do you think is harder the colours or the names?

colours. names are easy to come up with, just start with silly names.

:bulletblue: 26. Why did you choose Ash, Cliff and Dash to be related to Blurr?

They were born that way :3

:bulletblue: 27. When you create OC's do you think of the alt form first, or the robot form first?
hmm... it REALLY depends on the character... if the altmode if very important (ex: grudge's dino mode) then I usually try to start by that, but if the character is of more importance then I focus on that, however most of the time they come more or less at the same time as when I have to draw the robot I need to think of the car parts and when I draw the alt form I need to think how it transforms.

:bulletblue: 28. If you have any transformers action figures, which one is your favorite? If you don't have any, which ones would you want to have?
I'd say tfa blurr and generations Drift, followed by universe Sunstreaker and movie leader prime.(rotf)

:bulletblue: 29. What's your favorite episode of TFA?

Uhhh...well gee thats hard... lemme think on them all XD
I guess I like it all in general, but more specifically some scenes, one of my top fav scenes is in human error ratchet driving XD.
I enjoyed most starscream scenes though, and particularly ratchet's flash backs to the war as well as prowl's.
but episode? hmmm...I really don't know which to choose honestly.

:bulletblue: 30. Are you working IRL? If you are, what's your job?

Uhhh... officially? no. I want to get one though, I'm gonna see if I can.
I've been depending on commissions and stuff so far.

:bulletblue: 31. Do you have a TF persona?

Uhh... I've....tried...but they always get a life of their own TAT

  • Listening to: bon jovi
  • Reading: scripts
  • Watching: videos
  • Playing: war for cybertron
  • Eating: fig cake
  • Drinking: ice tea lemon

I know I've asked a few questions already, but this is something I'm having trouble with right now, so I figured I'd ask.

How do you plan out your comics and such? Like do you just know everything in your head, or do you jot it down somewhere etc.?

hm...that is a hard question indeed. I spent years wondering the same and quite frankly I don't know how to answer it very well yet.
For starters I allways LOVED visualizing stories in my head, like in movies. And with how many cartoons and comics books I've seen throughout my entire life I can say it helped a bit in the narrative part.
But most of it was just instinct for me. I just needed a little inspiration to forget all my fears of "oh but is this right? is this wrong? how should I go about this?"
So I was sick in bed when I first ready Corona's fan comic and felt inspired to try on my own.
I did rescue mission as a test for myself and with time I started learning my mistakes, do's and dont's and am still working on it.
Hope that answers your question

Well sort of.

I more of meant do you like make an outline of some sort before you begin writing/drawing?

Sorry, I don't always write very clearly XP

depends, on a long comic like Conditional freedom then yes I do, on a short one like Rescue mission I don't. (although I should)

Ok, so is it a very complicated outline (like you write down every little detail that's going to happen), or do you just jot down the very basic plot?

I'm just wondering because, as I said, I'm working on a bigger project right now, so I'm asking some people how they work on theirs to see what the best way to go about it is.

hmmm well when I write a script I usually put detail like setting, and if so, a special light or object. then when I do storyboards for the comics I just write down notes or something for when I do the bigger version.
Normally I leave a lot of space for improvising and detailing in the end. it helps keep it fresh in your mind
